Internships Available

Level One Internships

Child Interaction Experience

Wage: Unpaid

Requirements: Agree to a background check, weekend availability

Supervisor: Gina Anderson

Hours per Week: 10-20

Preferred Experience: Some knowledge of childhood development and age appropriate learning objectives

Job Duties:

  • o   Be present in exhibit spaces to interact with children and adults by encouraging and implementing exhibit objectives
  • o   Maintain safety of guests and exhibits
  • o   Provide input on exhibit enhancement
  • o   Assist with birthday party and field trip activities

Event Planning Experience

Wage: Unpaid

Requirements: Agree to a background check, weekend availability, ability to lift items over 25 lbs

Supervisor: Heather Heil

Hours per Week: 10-20

Preferred Experience: General understanding of fundraising concepts, ability to interact in a professional environment

Job Duties:

  • o   Participate in planning of small scale events
  • o   Assisting at special events and birthday parties
  • o   Set up/Take down for events
  • o   Creating and implementing your own small scale event

Graphic Design/Marketing Experience

Wage: Unpaid

Requirements: Agree to a background check, weekend availability

Supervisor: Lane Hrubesky

Hours per Week: 10-20

Preferred Experience: Some experience with graphic design, knowledge of non-profit needs

Job Duties:

  • o   Graphic design work (pending experience)
  • o   Create program, flyer or piece for one of our many programs or events.
  • o   Social Media

Arts/Programming Experience

Wage: Unpaid

Requirements: Agree to a background check, weekend availability, comfortable being animated in front of adults and children

Supervisor: Gina Anderson

Hours per Week: 10-20

Preferred Experience: Previous interaction with children, some knowledge of childhood development, age appropriate learning objectives

Job Duties:

  • o   Assist program leader during scheduled programs
  • o   Program planning-small scale
  • o   Assist/plan weekly activities and art projects

Volunteer Coordination Experience

Wage: Unpaid

Requirements: Agree to a background check, weekend availability

Supervisor: Whitney Karl

Hours per Week: 10-20

Preferred Experience: Some knowledge of non-profit needs, ability to communicate professionally

Job Duties:

  • o   Volunteer data entry and tracking
  • o   Volunteer correspondences
  • o   Analysis of volunteer impact on organization
  • o   Volunteer Scheduling 

Level Two Internships

*All Level Two Internships Require Completion of Level One Internship at CMGB or comparable experience at another facility, agree to a background check, weekend availability

Advanced Child Interaction Experience

Wage: $8.00/hour

Requirements: Completion of Level One Internship at CMGB or comparable experience at another facility, agree to a background check, weekend availability

Preferred Experience: Some knowledge of childhood development and age appropriate learning objectives, experience or comfort speaking in front of an audience

Job Duties:

  • o   Lead facilitated activities in exhibits that promote learning objectives
  • o   Maintain safety of guests and exhibits
  • o   Provide input in on exhibit enhancement
  • o   Lead birthday party and field trip activities

Advanced Event Planning Experience

Wage: $8.00/hour

Requirements: Completion of Level One Internship at CMGB or comparable experience at another facility, agree to a background check, weekend availability

Supervisor: Heather Heil

Hours per Week: 10-20

Preferred Experience: Understanding of aspects of fundraising, ability to interact in a professional environment, experience making and implementing a plan

Job Duties:

  • o   Participate in planning of medium-large scale events
  • o   Leading birthday parties
  • o   Leading volunteers during medium-large scale events
  • o   Creating and implementing your own medium scale event

Advanced Graphic Design or IT Intern

Wage: $10.00/hr

Requirements: Completion of Level One Internship at CMGB or comparable experience at another facility, agree to a background check, weekend availability

Supervisor: Toni Burnett

Hours per Week: 10-20

Preferred Experience: Graphic design or Web Design experience and knowledge of non-profit needs

Job Duties will be determined on area focus but can include:

  • o   Design work for museum events,
  • o   Perform guest analysis and plans based on results
  • o   Assist with monthly museum newsletter
  • o   Creating marketing plans/pieces for medium-large scale events and programs

Advanced Arts/Programming Experience

Wage: $8.00/hr

Requirements: Completion of Level One Internship at CMGB or comparable experience at another facility, agree to a background check, weekend availability

Supervisor: Gina Anderson

Hours per Week: 10-20

Preferred Experience: Experience with children in groups, knowledge of childhood development and age appropriate learning objectives, ability to create and implement a plan

Job Duties:

  • o   Lead programs
  • o   Program planning of medium-large scale
  • o   Lead camps/classes
  • o   Create your own program and carry out

Advanced Volunteer Coordination Experience

Wage: $8.00/hour

Requirements: Completion of Level One Internship at CMGB or comparable experience at another facility, agree to a background check, weekend availability

Supervisor: Whitney Karl

Hours per Week: 10-20

Preferred Experience: Some knowledge of non-profit needs, ability to communicate professionally, ability to speak knowledgeably about organization

Job Duties:

  • o   Maintain volunteer database
  • o   Volunteer scheduling
  • o   Volunteer leadership
  • o   Volunteer recruitment and interviews
  • o   Create volunteer activities
  • o   Analysis of volunteer impact on organization
