United Health Care Sponsors the Healthy Living Initiative

We are excited to share that UnitedHealthcare has generously made a commitment to The Children’s Museum of Green Bay to sponsor the Healthy Living Initiative. This initiative is aimed at teaching children and families the importance of nutrition and good habits to keep them healthy and safe. It will provide children and families with an interactive outdoor, garden-based learning area at the museum and will be the core to the museum’s monthly programing.

The Healthy Living Initiative consists of three programs:

1. Garden to Table will empower children and families through outdoor experiential education by creating garden-based, hands-on learning. Garden to Table will provide an understanding of where food comes from and the impact food choices have on living healthy lives.

2. Growing Strong will highlight the importance of making healthy decisions to take care of our bodies. Through hands-on learning and movement activities, children and families will learn about nutrition, physical exercise, the body’s systems, and good hygiene. Growing Strong focuses on how small daily choices can build big healthy lives.

3. Safety Smart will provide children and families with information to make choices that will keep themselves and others safe both indoors and outdoors and in varying weather conditions and locations. Safety Smart reminds children to stay safe while having fun.

Children’s Museum of Green Bay’s New SPLASH Water Play Gallery Receives WPS Foundation Sponsorship

Green Bay, Wis. – The Children’s Museum of Green Bay (CMOGB) recently launched phase one of its

new interactive exhibit, SPLASH Water Play Gallery. Made possible by a sponsorship from the

Wisconsin Public Service Foundation, this exhibit aims to spark the curiosity of children and encourage

engagement in fun water-based activities. With a variety of tools like cups, spoons, wheels, and jets of

water, children can experiment with splashing, pouring, scooping, and soaking. Geared toward

elementary-school ages, SPLASH is an interactive exhibit that allows children to control the direction,

speed, and flow of water, which can be manipulated by building dams. The exhibit combines fun and

education, helping children develop their problem-solving skills and understanding of water energy.

"As an educational institution, we believe in providing children with hands-on experiences that help them

explore and understand the world around them,” said Toni Burnett, CMOGB Executive Director. “The

SPLASH Water Play Gallery is an exciting addition to the museum, as it not only encourages children to

engage in play but also teaches them about water energy and its impact on our daily lives. We are grateful

for the generous support of the Wisconsin Public Service Foundation who share our vision of providing

children with innovative educational experiences. Their commitment to the community makes them the

perfect partner to help us bring this exhibit to life."

Water play has long been recognized as a valuable tool in early childhood education. Not only does it

provide children with an opportunity to engage in sensory exploration, but it also encourages social

interaction and builds the foundation for understanding many scientific concepts, including physics (flow,

motion), chemistry (solutions, cohesion), and mathematics (measurement, equivalence, and volume).

Mastering these concepts can become the building blocks for academic subjects in later schooling and

life.

Water Play Gallery,” said Beth Straka, president — WPS Foundation. “This innovative exhibit will help

children across our region learn about a vital natural resource while developing science, technology,

engineering and math skills. We’re proud to support this project as part of our commitment to enhancing

education and building a brighter future for our community.”

The exhibits at CMOGB are specifically created to align with the Wisconsin State Standards, Common

Core, and WMELS. It typically takes more than a year to design and develop a new exhibit, followed by

another year to build it. In addition to this initial phase of the SPLASH Water Play Gallery, the exhibit has a

second phase that includes a range of new components, such as a shower pad, to further enrich the learning

experience for children.

The SPLASH Water Play Gallery is included in regular admission to the museum.

PRICES: $8 general admission, $7 for seniors (62+), and free for children under 15 months

Through STEM-based programming and hands-on exhibits, the Children’s Museum of Green Bay

In 2019, the museum moved to a new location across the street from Green Bay’s Bay Beach Amusement

Park, allowing room for expansion. Now poised to begin its greatest chapter yet, the children’s museum

will kick off a [length] [dollar amount] fundraising effort to double the size of the current museum,

expand its Outdoor Discovery Center, and allow for additional exhibits, rental space and educational

programming. Visited by 68,000 guests every year, the museum has a bold vision to welcome 125,000
